!Hola Taiyari Familia!
September was a whirlwind of incredible moments for Tortillería Taiyari, and we’re so excited to share all the highlights with you. From major recognitions to cultural celebrations and workshops, it’s been a month to remember!
We’re beyond proud to announce that Karla Plancarte has earned a spot on the Food100 List of 2024!
This recognition honors changemakers in the food industry who are driving change through innovation, sustainability, and community-building—values that Karla and Tortillería Taiyari proudly represent.
We had a blast participating in the Low Food Festival, where we connected with inspiring people and enjoyed cooking shows and workshops by renowned chefs like Max La Manna and Asma Khan. Karla, along with talented Mexican chef Omar Sanchez, also hosted a cooking show, sharing their expertise on Mexican cuisine, from corn and tortillas to chiles and spices.
It was a true celebration of food and creativity! See some pictures here.
Karla also received a special award from the Mexican Embassy in the Netherlands and the Mexican Ministry of Tourism for her dedication in promoting Mexican culture and gastronomy in the Netherlands through Tortillería Taiyari.
We’re humbled and grateful for this recognition!
This year’s Mexican Independence celebration at the Mexican Experience Party was unforgettable! Our culture, food, and community came together for a weekend of music, dancing, and pride. Have you seen the aftermovie yet? If not, don’t miss out on reliving the magic! Watch it here.
We were also honored to participate as sponsors at the celebration organized by the Mexican Embassy in the Netherlands.
!VIVA MÉXICO!
On September 25th, Karla teamed up with Andres Jara from Jara Sauces and Esther Boukema from De Smaak te Pakken for an immersive workshop about corn’s origins, cultural significance, and how it shapes our traditions.
We had an incredible time learning and sharing stories, and we’ve got some beautiful snapshots of the day to share with you! Check them out here.
The most exciting news? We launched El Chilaquil Bar project! We’ve been cooking this idea for months and we are beyond happy to see it come to life. If you visited us at the Low Food Festival or the Mexican Experience, we hope you got a taste of our delicious chilaquiles. Missed it? No worries! We’ve got more exciting pop-up events on the way, so stay tuned for more details!
We want to thank YOU, our community, for being part of this journey with us. As we enter the final quarter of the year, we can almost smell the pan de muerto, tamales, and ponche! Stay tuned for more exciting news, events, and Mexican goodness coming your way.
Con cariño,
