What do we actually celebrate on this day? ⁠
Cinco de Mayo is a holiday often associated with Mexican culture and celebrations in the US but not widely celebrated in Mexico. ⁠

Today, we celebrate Mexico's victory over the French Empire in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla. An important moment in Mexican history! Therefore, Cinco de Mayo is primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, the site of the historic battle.⁠
